But Neelie Kroes, the EU competition commissioner, announced instead that an in-depth investigation would be opened.
Regulators must “examine very carefully the effects on competition in Europe when the world’s leading proprietary database company proposes to take over the world’s leading open-source database company,” she said in a statement.
It’s not easy for one big company to buy another big company nowadays. The EU has until January 19 to come to a decision so the deal will have to wait for another couple of months.
I wonder what will happen to Sun if the EU demands remedies that will call off the deal…

Jobbig sits för Apple. Vi användare vill så klart ha Spotify i våra iPhones och iPod touchar, men vill verkligen Apple, som tjänar pengar när vi köper musik från iTunes Store att pengarna istället ska gå till premium abonnemang hos Spotify?
Ett möjligt krav för godkännande skulle kunna vara att Apple ska få del av dom pengarna, men går Spotify med på detta?
